[Minimalist] Outfit No. 1

9.17.2015

I forgot to mention in this video, but I was inspired by Christine Nguyen on YouTube, who does these "Uniform" videos. She talks about her whole outfit and mentions an item that is her repeat piece. That's pretty much what I'll be doing in my Outfit series, except I decided not to call it Uniform.

More Outfit video to come ;)

Changes In Outfits!

9.07.2015

After talking to my cousin & his fiance about proper attire, the weather and seeing what some of my favorite bloggers from SF are wearing these days, I thought I would make a couple changes. I was going to bring sandals, but quickly scratched that off my mental list because I don't think it will be comfortable walking in them for hours. My Nikes are my coziest shoes, so I'm sticking to it!

Here are the changes:

  •  The weather over the weekend will be between mid 70's - 80's so wearing a thin, long sleeve might be a little bothersome for me. I replaced it with this lightweight flowy top. When it gets cold in the evening, I will have my leather jacket to keep me warm :) This tee is going to be apart of Outfit #3: here

  • As much as I love this maxi cardigan from UO, I think it may be a bit bulky. I decided to replace it with my new Brandy Melville cardigan which I will wear with Outfits #2 & #4: here and here
I've also decided to add in a pair of linen shorts to the mix. I don't know which outfit I will incorporate it with, I think I'm just going to wing it until I get there and actually feel the air.

Tomorrow, I will have a new video up on my channel about my carry-on luggage :)

Traveling Light: Toiletries

9.06.2015

I've been doing well with packing just the right amount when it comes to toiletries. In my first Traveling Light post, I talked about my DIY Skincare pots which is one of my favorite ideas ever! It definitely saves a lot of space in my quart-sized bag for TSA.

  •  I learned about these GoToobs from LightbyCoco and I love them so much.
  • At home, I use liquid body wash & a loofa, but for this trip (and possibly for future trips) I decided to purchase a travel sized soap bar. I'll use it throughout my trip and when I'm packing to go back home, I can just dispose of it.

  •  I've been using this oatmeal cleanser for 5 years now and I swear by it! I only use it in the morning, so I made sure I brought enough for 3 days.
  • To learn more about my DIY skincare pots, refer back to my first Traveling Light post here: DIY skincare pots

  • Yup, I still wear retainers to bed! I had to get braces twice in high school because the first time, I totally rebelled against wearing retainers. My fault, and now I'm paranoid of getting crooked teeth again, lol.
All of the toiletries that contain liquid, cream, and paste will be stored in my clear quart sized container that I got from Target. That also includes makeup as well.

So, I'll most likely have one more post about the bag/backpack that I will be using throughout my trip, probably the day before I leave. And! I will be posting up a video on Tuesday on my YouTube channel about how I pack my carry-on luggage. So stay tuned for that!

Traveling Light: Outfits

9.05.2015

I'll be in SF for 4 days and 3 nights, so I've put together 4 different outfits. The great thing about having a minimal style is that EVERYTHING pairs well together. I'm so simple and basic that whatever I decide to put together will look good.

The important thing to note is that you don't necessarily need to wear a completely different outfit each day. For example, you can wear a pair of jeans more than once or you can wear just one pair of shoes the whole trip (as you'll see in my outfits below.) It's all about incorporating the same pieces to make a different look :) The only thing I will be wearing differently each day are my tops, and they're all light-weight.

I've actually assigned an outfit for each day, so 1-4 will be Thursday-Sunday.

Now, I don't know how accurate the weather predictions are online, but I do check the days I will be there and try and plan my outfits around that. Who knows, SF's weather is just as weird as it is in San Diego, but my cousin did say to layer up. If anything, I'll bring my beanie with me when I really need it.

Hope this was helpful!

I'll have a post about my Toiletries tomorrow.
